About Incalculable
Arts & Crafts by Dr Laura J Brown
At Incalculable, creativity, community, health, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything I do. I am passionate about harnessing the therapeutic power of arts and crafts to foster connection, self-expression, and healing within individuals and communities.
With a background in interdisciplinary feminist global health research and expertise in innovative creative and participatory research methods, I advocate for the vital role that creativity plays in enhancing mental and emotional wellbeing.
As a certified Art Life Coach, I am committed to helping individuals explore their inner creativity as a pathway to personal growth, resilience, and wellbeing. This training informs every aspect of my practice, from facilitating workshops to creating opportunities for meaningful artistic expression.
My approach to art is eclectic; I embrace a variety of materials and techniques, from painting with acrylics and playing with air-dry clay to crocheting. Animals often inspire my work, adding a playful touch to my creations!
I offer a range of services designed to promote health and wellbeing through creative practices:
-
Arts-Based Wellbeing Workshops: I run workshops that use creative and tactile activities to support positive mental health and community connection. These sessions are tailored for universities, health and community groups, providing a nurturing environment for personal exploration and collective healing.
-
Community Engagement: As a facilitator of a local community life drawing circle and a volunteer for the Folkestone Art Society, I actively contribute to arts initiatives that bring people together and promote creativity. I am also working closely with Sunflower House, Folkestone helping to evaluate local community priorities and projects.
-
Original Artwork for Sale: Through my online shop, I offer custom pet portraits and unique meowmeow pots, and I also sell original artworks, prints and cards on my Etsy store. I regularly share updates of my artwork on my Instagram page, where you can see my latest creations and inspirations.

In addition to my artistic work, I am a mental health mentor and study skills tutor for university students, and draw on my own experiences of the therapeutic benefits of art to support others in their journeys.
I am DBS checked and have public liability insurance, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all my workshops and sessions.
Let’s explore the transformative power of creativity to enhance health and wellbeing together. If you’re interested in arranging a workshop or commissioning a piece of art, or learning more about what I offer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
